SALAME IBLEO NERO (suino nero) - 700 gr

Sicily

The “Nero Ibleo” is the local name for the “Nero Siciliano”, an autochthonous pig breed from Sicily also known as “Nero dei Nebrodi” (black pig of the Nebrodi) for its association with the Nebrodi mountains (a mountain range that runs along the north east of Sicily). This pig breed was considered in danger of extinction only a few years ago, for this reason in 2010 a project called “Suino Nero Siciliano” (Sicilian black swine project) was launched with the aim of bringing back and breeding the Sicilian black pig.

We fenced 5 hectares of woodland, with many oak species and carob trees where pigs graze freely. The grassy pasture, acorns/oak nuts, olives and carobs contribute to the health and wellbeing as well as to the happiness of the animals and in turn to the high quality of the meat.
